Twinkle this Tursday at Rockefeller Center

This Thursday night, I will be a volunteer assistant at a special knitting night at Anthropologie. Is anybody else helping out, or attending?

I have never taught anyone how to knit before, or even knit amongst other knitters before! I am a closet knitter in my daily life, and taught myself to knit from knittinghelp.com, so I have some small fears that I am doing it all wrong, or that I won't be able to communicate how it's done. I am hoping that my retail sales personality will kick in, squash my little insecurities and do all the talking.

I'd love to see some of my fellow knitbloggers and knitblog readers there! Let me know if you are thinking of going so I can look for you there.

You're going to be great! I was teaching my mom to knit the other day- casting on was the hardest part, but the knit and purl stitches were easy enough to demonstrate. And Anthropologie- I spend far too much time coveting the entire website, don't even get me started on their sweaters. Too bad Toronto is SO far away......

How cool is that?! I wonder if other Anthropologie stores are doing that? I love their stuff. There's no right or wrong way to teach someone--you'll be great! The few times I've taught someone to knit, I had them just knit & purl on something already started first. Then I taught them either to cast on with knitting on or the cable cast on (since it's just like what they were just doing anyway) and pointed them to other resources for other ways of doing things if they were actually interested.

Do you have her email to RSVP? I can't find it anywhere and it turns out I can go on Thursday . . . if you have it can you email me at yivich@gmail.com so I can tell her? Then we can teach together! Thanks!
